The one thing that stands out with this designer first and foremost is that she is HUMBLE.  She is also beautifully creative, but so so humble and in this industry, it is a trait that is hard to find.  So I start the new year showing off my lovely, creative and humble friend, designer Nathalie Loma.  You will definitely see a lot of her in 2014.

Quick Bio:

Nathalie Loma was born in 1987 in the beautiful country of Cameroon.  Sadly, only two months after her birth, Nathalie's father passed away.  The sudden passing of her father created financial hardships for Nathalie and her mother.  In order to make ends meet, Nathalie's mother taught herself how to sew and became a popular seamstress and dressmaker specializing in African fabric and special event clothing.

Nathalie grew up watching her mother make beautiful clothes for others all the while providing for her family.  She spent hours and hours every day  learning from mother and fell in love with fashion.  As she stated in her last interview, "I remember seeing my Mom look at fabric and asked it what it wanted; it was as if she knew the garment would speak back to her.  This is something I have cherished and incorporated in my work as a designer."

Pursuing a better life through education, Nathalie moved to the United States in 2006 to study Journalism and Broadcasting.  After graduating, she hosted many red carpet events, fashion shows and worked as a fashion writer.  She quickly realized that her true love was fashion and it was embedded in her being, her DNA.  Though she loved broadcasting and journalism, fashion pulled her in and reminded her where her passion truly lies.

With the need to become a designer, Nathalie rented a small workroom and spent every spare moment designing, creating, sewing her line.  With perseverance and commitment, she opened her online store, "Nathalie Loma Design."

With her mother as her role model and support, Nathalie has been able to overcome life's challenges and pursue her dream.  She mentors and encourages students in high school to pursue education and their dreams because more than anyone, Nathalie understands the importance of following your heart's desire.
